  • The Civic Data Lab aims to empower civil society with data-driven solutions. Supported by the BMFSFJ (Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth) Their mission is to facilitate effective data utilization for public welfare. And assist civil society actors in leveraging data through practical case studies, breaking down barriers to social innovation."

  • Our goal is to create a Toolkit that is a valuable resource for both Data Consultation Sessions with Civic Data Lab and independent data projects, all grounded in the principles of the Civic Data Lab. It is important to implement key questions from our principle catalog that need to be answered to apply for Civic Data Lab Consulting sessions. The Toolkit needs to be linked to our supplementary materials and use and introduce our terminology, while maintaining the Visual Identity of Civic Data Lab.

Our aim is to enhance and streamline resources for data-driven initiatives, providing an effective resourcing.

  • To enhance the structure of the Toolkit, sheets are differentiated with different colors for Information Sheets, Foundation exercises, and In-Depth exercises.

Questions tailored for submission to a Data Consultation Session with Civic Data Lab are specifically marked, accompanied by helpful tips and motivational prompts. QR codes are provided for access to additional resources. In the bottom left corner, you'll find a reference to the

principle of Civic Data Lab that corresponds to the working materials, aiding in your familiarity with their terminology.

Inspired by Design Thinking methodologies, our approach embraces a non-linear process, offering flexibility in how you engage with the content

.Aligned with the Visual Identity of Civic Data Lab, our materials consistently reflect our ethos and branding

“As part of the Civic Data Lab, we support organized and non-organized civil society actors in using existing and newly collected data to create added social value. To make this process more tangible, we have worked with Marko and Kate to develop a material to help civil society actors tackle their data projects in a more structured way and not lose sight of the goal when planning. We would like to thank Marko and Kate for the pleasant collaboration and the creative, target group-oriented and professional implementation of the material.”
